Porsche has been caught testing a performance-focused GTS version of the 718 Cayman at the Nurburgring.

The new Cayman GTS and related Boxster GTS are expected to receive a more powerful version of the 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four found in the S model variants – likely making around 375 horsepower. A lower ride height will likely be joined by Porsche’s Active Suspension Management dampers and the Sport Chrono package, just as on the previous Cayman and Boxster GTS models.

The spy photos show a completely uncovered prototype with a mildly reworked front fascia and twin center exhausts. GTS badging and branding will be present on production models and we may even see some model exclusive equipment in the way of lightweight wheels and sport-inspired interior appointments. We’re envisioning a car that is not decidedly more sporty than the Cayman S, but not nearly as hardcore as the Cayman GT4.

The 2018 Cayman GTS is expected to debut at the 2017 LA Auto Show before going on sale in early 2018.
