Bentley has named the three drivers that will be behind the wheel when the British automaker returns to racing.

Guy Smith, Steven Kane and Andy Meyrick will be in charge of piloting the Continental GT3 at the Gulf 12 Hours at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi on December 13. The date will mark Bentley’s return to the track since winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003. Final preparations for the race car are underway now that the team has completed initial development work with an endurance test.

Smith was part of Bentley’s victory at the 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans, so climbing into the cockpit of the GT3 is a perfect fit for the team. As for Kane, he is a former Porsche Carrera Cup, British Touring Car, ALMS and Grand-Am driver. Lastly, Meyrick has experience racing in Le Mans Prototype (LMP) competition in addition to competing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“After completing development and endurance testing on a variety of race tracks around Europe since we unveiled the car at Goodwood in July, we’re confident that the Continental GT3 is prepared for its first test race,” said Brian Gush, Bentley’s Director of Motorsport. “While the development work never stops, we feel ready to take on the competition for the first time in Abu Dhabi. I’m delighted with our driver selection, and in Guy, Steven and Andy we have world-class talent. All at Team M-Sport Bentley are thrilled to be racing next month.”
