Volvo Changes Its Car Names For The Electric Era
In the name of “streamlining and standardizing its model names for fully electric cars,” Volvo has changed a bunch of its model names. For example, the XC40 and C40 Recharge models see new names: the EX40 and EC40, respectively. The changes only apply to electrified models, as gas ones will keep their names. Volvo has also decided to ditch the “Recharge” name from its plug-in hybrid lineup. Now, these will be denoted as T6 or T8 indicating their respective power output levels. Volvo says the move in nomenclature is supposed to make it easier for customers to figure out which models are electric and which are hybrids, as the “E” prefix implies.
