Lexus UX Concept Previews Crazy Futuristic Alien Interior
The Lexus UX Concept will make its debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and the Japanese automaker has released a glimpse of its interior.
The Lexus UX Concept shows off the automaker’s vision for a compact SUV of the future, both inside and out. Lexus released an image ahead of the concept’s debut later this month, showing off an on-board HMI technology that has been designed to offer an innovative, three-dimensional experience.
Instead of a traditional instrument cluster, the Lexus UX Concept will boast a transparent globe that is floating like a hologram. Inside, there’s a combination of analog and digital information that results in a functional, yet unexpected user interface. The center console features a faceted crystal structure that also has a hologram-style display for the air conditioning and infotainment system that is clearly visible to both driver and passenger.

Other advanced in-vehicle technologies that will be packed into the UX Concept include electro-chromatic windows, and side-view mirrors that have been replaced with e-mirror camera housings that are far slimmer than conventional mirror housings. All of the switchgear is electrostatic and housed under transparent covers.
“Our brief was to create a new genre of compact crossover; a vehicle that could create something unique from a customer’s point of view — an innovative, three-dimensional, fully immersive user experience,” said Stephan Rasmussen, designer at European Design Centre, ED2.
