Just how fast is the world’s first all-electric hypercar?

WEC, Ferrari Le Mans and Corvette GT2 V8 racing driver Archie Hamilton wanted to find out, and got an opportunity to hop behind the wheel of the Rimac Concept One. The Concept One made its production debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, touting four electric motors that generate 1,088 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. Limited to just eight units, the all-electric hypercar is capable of going zero to 62 mph in just 2.6 seconds.

On paper, it seems fast, but that never tells the whole story. Hamilton got the Rimac Concept One together with the Tesla Model S and the Ferrari LaFerrari to find out with quarter-mile races. While the race against the Tesla Model S P90D had an expected outcome, considering how much more power the Concept One has, things got really interesting when it lined up against the LaFerrari. If you had any doubts that all-electric cars can be fast, this video should convince you that the future is here.
