From steak dinners and airline seats to yearly salaries, bigger is always better; it’s also the same with engine size, right?

Right. There really is no replacement for displacement … unless you count turbos and superchargers, but let’s not. Piston-swept area is what we’re measuring today, internal combustion behemoths with massive bores and supersized strokes.

The United States is known for its outsized attitude, its love affair with everything that’s oversized, but you might be surprised to learn that many of the engines on this list are from foreign manufacturers. It’s true!

    too bad the 6.8 V10 is only in the E-Series vans and not in any cars. I love that engine!
