Porsche Offers Navigation Unit for Its Classic U.S. Cars
Porsche is bringing new technology to the dashboard of its old cars in North America.
Though it has already been available in Europe for over a year, Porsche will now offer its radio navigation system in both the USA and Canada, designed to fit inside classic 911 models built from the 1960’s to the late 1990’s.
The unit has a small 3.5-inch touch-sensitive display that perfectly integrates into the existing sound system, offering the driver navigation and even optional SiriusXM satellite radio. Bluetooth phone connection, two USB ports and an auxiliary-in port are also included with the new head unit.

Two knobs and six buttons on a black surface are the redundant controls included with the unit, blending in nicely with the classic Porsche design. The internals have also been optimized for the classic cars, with such elements as the radio still using the built-in antenna that comes standard with the car.
Along with the first 911 from the 1960s to the last air-cooled 911 built in 1998, the new navigation system also fits in the 912, 914, 924, 928, 944, and 968 models.
Porsche will sell the units through its 100 Porsche Classic Partners.

Wowza. If the classic is owned by anyone without absolutely perfect, actually beyond human vision, you're going to struggle to see that ...... pointless Why not have like in Japan (has had as a retro fit option to all cars) and install a 'fake' head unit that when you want the navi you hit the power button and out folds a decent sized screen ( like an modern navi ) Porsche could have done this a little more thoughtfully
