Bentley Continental GT Speed Goes 206 MPH on Video
The Bentley Continental GT Speed has gone 206 mph in Australia.
Backing up its advertised top speed, Bentley turned to professional driver and current pilot of the Continental GT3 Down Under with Flying B Racing to capture the luxury sports coupe reaching 206 mph on camera. With one of only three derestricted roads in the world, the Northern Territory was the perfect place for the attempt, with the 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12-powered Continental covering a ridiculous 92 meters per second once it reached top speed.

According to the British automaker, it took the coupe 76 seconds to reach 206 mph while covering 5.8 miles in the process. The company also shared some interesting facts, saying that at 206 mph the Bentley Continental GT Speed was circulating 216 liters of coolant through its engine and radiator per minute as well as drawing over 4,700 liters of air through its radiator every second. The W12 engine was using 80 percent of its power just to overcome aerodynamic loads.
This isn’t a modified racecar; it’s a luxurious grand touring road car fresh off the production line,” said driver John Bowe. “It took us a little over a minute to go from a standstill to 206 mph. That’s extraordinary. Even when you break through the 200 mph barrier, the GT Speed just keeps accelerating.”
