Aston Martin Vulcan Pays Tribute to Its V Bomber Namesake
The Aston Martin Vulcan has gotten together with the iconic 1950s British V bomber that inspired the sports car’s name.
The last remaining airworthy Avro Vulcan is preparing for its final flight this month, but before it can retire from “active service” it has been paired with the Aston Martin Vulcan for a set of stunning photos. Once retired, the Avro Vulcan will become the centerpiece of the educational Vulcan Aviation Academy & Heritage Centre at her home base, Robin Hood Airport near Doncaster.

The Aston Martin Vulcan will be a track-only sports car limited to just 24 units, powered by a 7.0-liter V12 that will deliver over 800 horsepower. First deliveries of the Aston Martin Vulcan will take place worldwide before the end of this year.
“Clearly the Avro Vulcan provided the inspiration for the naming of our most extreme sports car, and I’m delighted that we have been able to unite the ‘two Vulcans’ and deliver our own tribute to this world-renowned aeronautical phenomenon,” said CEO Dr. Andy Palmer.
“Personally, it is great to know that the Vulcan name will live on not only in the history books, and at the new educational centre in Yorkshire, but via Aston Martin’s incredible new sports car,” added pilot Martin Withers DFC who flew the Vulcan XH558 during the photoshoot.
