Bentley Split Between Speed 6 and Compact SUV

Bentley hasn’t decided what its fifth model will be.

Although there have been reports that the British automaker is putting its EXP 10 Speed 6 concept to production, Bentley head Wolfgang Durheimer confirmed recently that the sports car hasn’t received the green light.

That’s because Bentley is weighing whether a small SUV slotting under the Bentayga would be a more advantageous addition to the lineup. As a result, a decision won’t be made until 2016 or 2017 as Durheimer has said, “We can’t do both those cars at the same time, because Bentley is still a small company and our resources are very stretched. We are doing the studies for both those models and then we will decide on the fifth model.”

The Bentley Bentayga SUV will enter production late this year, which means once a decision is made on the next model, don’t expect it to arrive until 2020 or 2021. Considering how big the crossover and SUV market has been getting worldwide, it’s no surprise that Bentley wants to take its time before making a decision.
