Lexus will roll out a new active safety package on all its models starting next year.

The Lexus Safety System+ package will bundle a set of newly-developed active safety technologies that will help prevent or mitigate collisions across a wide range of vehicle speeds. According to the Japanese automaker, Lexus Safety System+ will arrive next year and will be available across all Lexus models in Japan, North America and Europe by the end of 2017. By using millimeter-wave radar with a camera, the Lexus Safety System+ package will include advanced technologies such as a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection function, lane departure alert, automatic high beam and radar cruise control.

The pre-collision system will help prevent and mitigate accidents while lane departure alert aims to prevent drivers from departing their lanes. The automatic high beam feature will help ensure optimal forward visibility during nighttime driving. Lastly, radar cruise control will take advantage of the millimeter-wave radar to detect preceding vehicles and determine their speed, allowing the Lexus vehicle to maintain smooth acceleration and deceleration while driving and keep a safe distance between vehicles.

Way to be late to the party, Lexus.

Oh boy - like Ford, Lincoln (My 2 favs) GMC, Caddie, Buick, Chevy, Honda and Subaru (my tied for first place) safety technology hasn't been installed for two plus years... Look Lexus - man invent fire, man invent wheel - thankfully you have been spending time on a tarnished image and absolutely butt ugly design - first Nissan built the ugliest cars across the whole line and now Toyota/Lexus has crept ahead and outdone the stylist everywhere - I wouldn't drive an ugly Lexus at night in the desert for fear of being seen in these ugly cars... Whoever thought that Subaru would be better looking than Toyota, Lexus, Infiniti and Nissan.
