McLaren F1 XP1 LM Inspires: 2013 Geneva Motor Show
Is there anything more amazing on display at this year’s Geneva Motor Show than the new McLaren P1 supercar? Maybe. And that car might just be another McLaren: the iconic F1.
The inspiration for the new 903 hp P1, this isn’t just any old F1 either, but the XP1 LM F1. In the automaker’s continued assault on memorable names (MP4-12C, we’re looking at you), this car is the prototype for five limited edition models inspired by the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans winning F1 GTR race cars.

That year McLaren became the only automaker to even win the historic endurance race in its first year. And they did it in dramatic fashion, taking the checkered flag, as well as 3rd, 4th, 5th and 12th places.
Only five F1 LM models were ever produced excluding this prototype, making it a one-of-one. Better yet, it’s actually more extreme than the Le Mans winning cars as its 132 lbs lighter and without race restrictors makes more power for a total of 680 hp from a 6.1-liter V12.
Appearing in Geneva in a stunning coat of Papaya orange paint, it marks the first time ever it has been on display outside of the UK.
