While all eyes are on the 2012 Paris Motor Show, September 27 will also be a big day for RAM, as its newest heavy-duty trucks, and chassis cabs are unveiled.

Proclaiming it as “our biggest year ever,” RAM will unveil its newest 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cab at an event on Thursday held at the Texas State Fair.

The current RAM HD is offered with a 350 hp 6.7-liter turbo diesel, that makes up to 800 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic, or six-speed manual transmission first made available in 2012. Based on the introduction of an eight-speed gearbox for the RAM 1500, it is possible that the heavy duties will jump up to seven, or possibly even eight gears for the 2013 model year to help preserve torque and increase fuel efficiency.

Also available on the current truck is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that delivers 383 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. On the 2013 1500, this engine offers start/stop capability, another feature that will likely migrate to the heavy duty trucks.

Another possibility for the heavy duty trucks is the inclusion of airbag suspension, which was added to the half-ton RAM this past year.

You can a live stream showing the reveal of the 2013 RAM Heavy Duty on Thursday, September 27 at 10 a.m.
