The first Maserati SUV is still in its early stages of testing.

AutoGuide.com‘s spy photographers have caught the Levante mule cold-weather testing in Northern Sweden and it appears that the Italian automaker still hasn’t developed a full body prototype for its upcoming SUV. Interestingly enough, the last time we saw the Levante mule testing it sported a red body, while the latest mule has a blue one.

Regardless, the Maserati Levante is expected to be built on the same platform as the Ghibli and Quattroporte, which explains the high-riding Ghibli we’ve seen being used as a mule. Naturally there’s additional bodywork to resemble the an SUV and hopefully Maserati will have a true prototype soon so we can get a better idea of what’s to come.
